Default Unable to connect

I have been unable to connect to Limewire for the entire day. There have been no previous issues with connection, and the application has worked well up until this point.

I have one green line andf the app stays on 'connecting' The icon for a firewall is present.

I have not changed any settings on the machine, nor on the network. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Limewire was allowed as an exception in Windows Firewall before.I have disabled the Firewall and still no change. I have tried connection with a router with ports forwarded properly (as far as I can see) and with a modem only and no firewall. All set-ups lock me out.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
Windows XP Home SP2
2. What firewalls you have?
Windows Firewall and harware firewall - both have been disabled and still problems persist
3. How much ram?
1 Gig
4. Hard Disk space available?
200Gb free
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
ADSL broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
Safecom SWAMRU-54108. Tried this and the modem only supplied by the ISP, a Sagem f@st 800-840.
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?
home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
Limewire 4.12.11 and Java 1.6.01
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?
Tiscali UK
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
Your Test Worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
Connection is shared wirelessly. One wireless device connects to it as well as this machine - connected by ethernet.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
New problem. i have used Limewire for a number of years
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
Yes

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?
I have tried both UPnP and port forwarding. Even when ports are open and configured in Limewire, the application will not connect

Any help would be appreciated.

Try searching 'Tiscali' in these forums. They are known to shape the bandwidth of p2p users.

Good Luck

I understood that they were limiting usage at peak times, which is fair enough, but I cannot even connect with Limewire or any Bittorrent clients.

I have received nothing from them to suggest I have been moved to a heavy users connection in my 4-5 years with them, and I don't imagine that I am a 'heavy user' given I don't download that much from the tiscali connection.

I'm VERY annoyed at this.
