Exclamation Firewall Problem!!! Help please!!!

I just got my DSL modem hooked up. And in order to get everything fixed I had to wipe out my WHOLE computer!!! Which included LimeWire and everything from it that I have downloaded. Well, I got the DSL hooked up and everything is fixed..buuut... after I re-downloaded LimeWire it says it can't connect because of a firewall or loopback set on the machine that doesn't allow it to connect to the internet. Well, I turned my firewall off. And it still won't work. I deleted the old version of Java and downloaded the correct one of that and STILL nothing. Someone please please help me!!! It would be so very much appreciated!!! Thanks!

well i have a dell inspiron e1505. its an 06 model. the security set ups that i have are norton ghost (which ive disabled) and McAfee security. Ive tried installing limewire and was able to before. but when i received my DSL box the tech support guy said i would have to reboot or w/e my whole computer. so i lost everything. and now i tried to download limewire again and it let me download it. but i cant open it because it keeps saying it cant connect ot the internet because of my firewall. well my firewall is off. so i dont know what else to do...?

Make sure that your Windows firewall is off & configure McAfee to allow LW.
Port Forwarding for the McAfee Security Center

Which OS are you using? Which version of LW & Java? Do you use a modem and/or router (there are firewalls within most routers & some modems)? What's the brand & model number? Who is your ISP? Where are you trying to connect from? It would've been really great if you could've answered the questions from my system details link.

Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire

I don't know what version of Java you're using, but if you have Windows XP, you could try reinstalling this Java. Use the JRE offline installer. Remove your current Java version before you install this one.
