eirb38 Hi.

What media players do you have running on computer
If you Go to Library in L/w Highlight a song, then in the bottom left corner click
on explore that will take you to your shared folder, If you then right click on a song, choose open with, then Highlight the player you wish to make your defalt,
then tick the box, too always use this app to open this type of file.
OK That will take the purple thing away

If you dont have a good Player Down load this one.

Try downloading & using the VLC media player (Its Free) & recomended by us here
at the limewire forums. VLC player has most all of the codec's built into the player &
plays above average quality for music & exelent quality for video files, (It play's most everything)

If you wish, VLC player can be set as the defult player for your computer, to do this
In Limewire Library, highlight a file mp3, avi or whatever you wish then click on
explore, in the bottom left corner.
This will take you to the shared folder outside of Limewire, right click on a file,
choose, open with, highlight VLC player, then tick the box to always use this program
to open this type of file. Reapete this action to include all the file types you wish VLC
to be the defult player.
USE THIS LINK IN BLUE (download from the nearest mirror site to you)

Your servant.
Peace.

mickjapa108 May 18th, 2007 10:23 AM

Yes, I believe so, or use the player that I gave you the link for, It has all the codec's built in.& its highly recommended by us.
Enjoy Peace.

hi ok...the purple thing is gone...but when i transfer songs to Win. media player and burn them...again...they burn fine...but wont play back when i try to play the cd??????

wondering why May 18th, 2007 02:40 PM

Try playing them through itunes and make itunes your default player..
If they play fine through that, they should burn fine...If they are not, have you changed the disc's you use...

eirb38 May 19th, 2007 06:31 AM

yeah it doesnt matter weather i play them through i tunes or windows media player....ive burned through both and both ways they play and burn fine....then when i try to play the disc the songs wont play...?????

mickjapa108 May 19th, 2007 06:35 AM

Are you burning to Cd format or mp3 check the setting I overlooked that once

Peace.

eirb38 May 21st, 2007 06:01 AM

i hate to sound stupid...but what are you talking about "dano's post, and part #1 or part #5?" where is all this.....im lost....

eirb38 May 21st, 2007 06:38 AM

also...i dont think i explained my self correctly to you guys....i have burned several months ago in the wind. media player..and it burned fine and played back fine...then all of a sudden it doesnt play back on the cd's anymore...it use to...but doesnt now...also..my sons ipod stopped working...at the same time...it wont pop up anymore when he connects it..and nothing will burn to it...and when i look at it under the : control panel , admin tools, comp. management, device manager, universal serial bus controllers, the i pod isnt there...it says unknown device...and when i try to "update the drivers" it says there is no drivers....I know his ipod is not the prob. b/c i plugged it into a diff computer and it appears on there???? do you think this prob. w/ the burned cds' not playing has to do w/ the same prob. the ipod is having????

this was why i tried to uninstall limewire and reinstall...but the old library keeps coming back.....

Look in this link. Under the section 'How to Burn an Audio CD with WMP', I have numbered the steps to complete the process. Number 5 says 'Verify that the setting says Audio CD'. There is a picture to help you.

I was indeed getting some z's. Gotta recharge sometime!

did you read my post above yours??? about how it use to work and just stopped and the ipod also stopped???

muhctekdano May 21st, 2007 07:04 AM

No, I didn't see your post before I posted.

Hmmm...it seems like you are having several problems. I'm not sure if they are related or not. I'm stumped! I've never encountered this problem, so I'm not sure how to handle it.

Have you tried defragmenting your hard drive?
Have you ran an antivirus scan?
After you burn the disc, can you verify whether there is anything on it (my computer...click on your CD drive with the disc inserted)?
Have you tried to play these discs on several different players?

eirb38 May 21st, 2007 07:15 AM

first let me say i appreciate your help...I have Norton Antivirus...spybot and Ad aware..i run them regularly and they come up fine*not surprised* i was thinking of uninstalling norton and downloading AVGFREE....
what is "defragmenting my hard drive?"
yes i have tried to play them from 3 diff..sources and the disc will not play in any....

muhctekdano May 21st, 2007 07:38 AM

AVG sounds like a good idea (just to be safe)

To defragment:

Control Panel...Administrative Tools...Computer Management...Storage...Disk Defragmenter...Defragment

I wish you luck :D

Dan

eirb38 May 21st, 2007 08:16 AM

what does defragmenting it do???

muhctekdano May 21st, 2007 10:18 AM

In a word, it helps your computer run more efficiently. It gets rid of stray files that you don't need and organizes your files by putting similar files together. It is a good idea to defrag occasionally to keep your computer operating at it's best. Here's some more information (it does get a little technical).

Defragmentation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hope this helps :D

just to pick your brain again (so-to-speak) if that doesnt help what do you think the problem could be? and is there any way to really remove limewire and re-install and NOT have the old Limewire(library) return?

wondering why May 21st, 2007 12:03 PM

By the sounds of it your problem doesn't have anything to do with Limewire...
You stated in your 1st post that the songs play fine, so it's not the files you are downloading...
The ipod and burning cd's are a seperate issue...
I'd suggest posting your problem at the itunes forum...

To uninstall limewire from your computer correctly go to Start > All Programs > Limewire-uninstaller..
