You didn't answer WW's question (she's away for a while). Did you look for a second preferences folder in this location C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\LimeWire & delete it?
That folder's hidden by default, so you'll have to show hidden files & folders in order to see it.

Have you made sure that your Windows firewall's configured properly?
User can't connect

Try that port 6346 test again. If the page still won't load, sounds like something's blocking LW's default port. In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or something in the range of 49152 - 65535) >Apply > ok.

Most routers have an internal firewall, but it's a bit hard to help with yours if we don't know the brand or model

Sorry about that.
I looked for the folder, but i only got as far as C:\Documents and Settings\your username I couldn't find Application Data\LimeWire

I went on the link that you sent me, and i have the connection bar that stays at one and the firewall blocking. (I had my firewall on before and it was working fine, but when it didn't work, i disabled it but it still didn't work so since then i have enabled it again.) I don't hav the LW pro version, (i dont know if that has any thing to do with it, but) I don't have the connections tab that it showed in the link.

I tried that test again, but it still didn't work so i changed the listening port to 64049 but it still didn't work.

I looked again on my router for the brand and model and I found some info. Im not sure what you need, but it says, 2wire gateway and There were some numbers on there that i don't know whether you need or not.

Hope you can help me now,

Soccerblonde

Ok, what you have to do is make it so that you can see hidden files & folders.
Go to My Computer. Now click on Tools > Folder Options > View. Put a dot in the circle next to 'show hidden files & folders' > Apply > ok.
Now, you should be able to see the Application Data folder & also the LimeWire one within App Data. Delete that LimeWire folder.
Only do this when LW is properly closed.

Yep, tell us what numbers are on that 2wire device

I made it so i could see the hidden files and folders and i found the app data folder. But when i went in it, i couldn't find the LimeWire folder.

The router has one set of numbers on it that says, 2700HG-E. There is also a bar code and stuff. Do u need that? Then there is a thing that says WAN MAC Address: 00:18:3F:79:50:88 (i don't know if it has anything to do with it, but i don't hav a mac)

Thanx for replying so quickly,

SoccerBlonde

Restart LW, then shut it down again. Once it's properly closed, go back into Application Data & look for that LimeWire folder...it should be there. Delete it.
i can only get one bar of connection! i can't even search! it was working fine b4-prefs-folder.jpg

Try port forwarding for your 2wire. The instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the 2 Wire 2700HG-E
LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the device all have to be the same number

I couln't find the LimeWire folder in Aplication Data, but when i searched, i found A folder called LimeWire in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs I also found one in C:\Program Files. Would any of those possibly be it?

On the Port forwarding, I got to the part where you enter the ip address into the address bar. Where do i find my IP address? Also, I got confused there where it said: Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has Google in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.254. What does all that mean?

Thanx for all your help,

SoccerBlonde

Don't delete those other LW folders!!
Reinstall LW. Make sure to use the offline installer (when you click to download & a box pops up, ignore it. You'll see a link to download using the offline installer, inside an orange box on the download page...use that offline installer). Install that new version, it'll automatically remove the one you're using now. Once it's installed, restart your computer & open LW. Give it a couple of minutes...see if the new version will connect. If it doesn't, go & look again for that LimeWire folder. It should definitely be there in the Application Data folder.

For your port forwarding: Once you've opened your browser, type that IP (192.168.1.254) into the address bar. Check the screenshot here

That IP is just the default one for your router (mine's 192.168.1.1...they're different for different routers), when you type that into the address bar & hit enter, your router's pages should open.
