Another connection problem

Hey guys I have Lime Wire Pro and I'm having troubles connecting and sometimes I will connect but will only have a fair connection.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP
2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall
3. How much ram? 512
4. Hard Disk space available? 8.69 GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
Modem:RCA Model#:DCM305
Router:CompUSa Model#:12VDC

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Home

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

LimeWire 4.12.6 Pro
Java 1.6.0_01

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says your test worked.

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? I dont think so?
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. No I've used regular Limewire for a long time.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?
No idea?
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall
Spy Sweeper, but its the same when I shut it down so it isnt this program thats blocking it.

As far as I know Comcast does not block or shape incoming connections. But I am pretty sure they are blocking outgoing P2P traffic.Make sure LimeWire is allowed through the Windows firewall. When you check your firewall settings un check the LimeWire box then click on apply. Then start limewire go to the firewall exceptions page and put a check mark in the box and click apply. Then restart LimeWire. Sometimes the windows firewall gets messed up.

I don't see any UPnP options from the models I saw at PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall so perhaps port forwarding is the way to go for you. If it doesn't support UPnP or it's unreliable then PF is definitely the way to go. Go to that link & find your CompUSa model or similar. First & most important step is always setting up a static ip: PortForward.com - Setting up Static ip then follow other directions given. Hope it works ok. ;)

Oh & don't forget to configure your XP firewall to allow LW full access: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)
