Most of the ISP's in UK shape or block p2p bandwidth. I presume when you posted above it was from home right? I did an ISP check upon your ip address & it pointed to Tiscali. Which suggests that Tiscali is the owner of Homecall. I thought Homecall rang a bell when I saw it. I just did a forum search for Homecall & sure enough: (1) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-anymore.html

(2) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-anymore.html ________ (3) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...pipex-isp.html __ I will add them to the list.

If you can, probably very slowly. You could try another gnutella program to see if it's only LW they have shaped or else it's gnutella network; try this one: Phex to see if you have the same problems. It's a good program, some nice additions LW doesn't have. But it's perhaps not as intuitively easy to use until you get the hang of it.

yes

Go back to LW. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the ports shown to one between (49152 - 65535). A good one to try is 64049. See if that works. They may be just blocking ports where you are. Being shaped is one thing, but it sounds like you are being blocked somehow.

Hi Guys,
This wont be much help, but here goes.
Homecall and Pipex are the same company. Not sure if they're owned by Tiscali or not. They say that they do not block ports but use traffic management in peak hours coz people are abusing fair use policy. ie using P2P programs. I dont know how they do it, unless there's something in the modem that can tell them when you are on Limewire. I've tried every remedy suggested here and on Apple's forums but nothing works. Now I'm stuck with these f@nnies for 11 months!!
- I've got mates on Tiscali who have no problems with Limewire, Bit Torrents etc.
- I've got a (supposedly slow) 512kbs broadband connection at work with a different ISP which works perfectly with P2P and is faster than my 8Mb Homecall!

End of rant.

mickjapa108 has a spectacular aura about
Default

philwalker & androskemlos
Its all been said really,

Don't use Limewire's Default ports some ISPs block them.
Try switching to Manual Port forward using port numbers between 45000 To 65000
Both Manual Port forward No, & listening port should be set at the same number
In LimeWire, GO to Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config & use Manual Port forward.

If you are using a router to connect, that will also need configuring.
Find your router listed here, Use this blue link. & dont forget to create a static IP first, & click apply after changing each setting.
