Can't get limewire to work shows that it is loading then shuts off. It also magnifies screen whenever I try to get into it.

I think the size is either due to graphic card settings or system font settings.

1. Uninstall all versions of Java using your add/remove control panel then reinstall using the "Offline" Java installer: Download Java software from Sun Microsystems

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. new problem
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? don't know
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall none except xp's
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). U.S.


When loading screen is brought up it is not magnified anymore but makes hole screen diluted and loads but won't open up. Thanks for replying.

Which options did you try? Did you try deleting prefs folder?
You could try stepping back to Java 1.5; ie: uninstalling java you have & re-install from Java 1.5 (take the JRE).

I am still wondering whether it's a graphic card issue. Perhaps a clash between a graph card driver & Java. Otherwise, a setting such as 3D or game setting.

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

I deleted prefs file and put Java 1.5 on. Don't have graphics card and computer is not set up for games. I can't get into limewire to be able to change anything.

Did you try changing compatibility mode? Try both win 2k & win NT

Check the link I gave above (#2 in post 2) about fixes for LW. You need to select the actual program, not the shortcut.

I tried it didnt work.
