I'm having the same exact problem =[

No clue how to fix it as of now though.

rush_fan1 July 3rd, 2007 08:30 PM

Okay, this is what happened.
I recently bought an iPod Video, so I tried to download a few DVD rippers, and they all wanted me to buy one. So I went on a few sites and downloaded a keygen for one (I think thats what messed my computer). Now my comp is screwed up:
  1. iTunes won't connect
  2. Bittorrent won't connect
  3. uTorrent won't connect
  4. LimeWire won't connect.
Not only will LimeWire not connect, every time I log in to my side or restart the computer it asks me to install, even if I did so right before restarting/logging off.
Firefox will obviously connect, that is how I am writing this.
MSN Messenger will work.
I have tried everything from almost every forum, yet nothing is happening.

SOMEONE HELP ME! I NEED MY MUSIC!
Cheers

I forgot to mention, whenever I open LW, it says something about not being able to connect and something about a Firewall, even though I disabled the Firewall. SOMEONE HELP!

So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are:

Cut n paste Just these Questions, put your answers in bold text Thank You.

1. what OS version (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista) ?

5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ?
6.Modem what brand name & model numbers ?
7.Router brand name & model numbers ?
8. Where are you trying to connect from (house, apartment complex, school, student accommodation, work, etc.) ?
9. What version,LimeWire & Java, are you using. Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.?

18. Are you using Manual Port faward in LimeWire OR UPnP ?
You can check HERE, IN LimeWire Go, Tools/options/advanced/firewall Config

This information can be vital
For instance, some ISPs are known for blocking p2p/throttling bandwidth,
some connection devices are known for being unreliable in certain situations.

So please, help us to help you & provide as much info as you can.
If you're new to LW or new to computers & aren't sure how to answer some questions,
or don't know what an ISP or router is - just say so. Nobody's going to yell at you:wink:
Even if you can't answer all the questions in one go...don't worry. Do the best you can & we'll take it from there.

Lord of the Rings July 4th, 2007 10:05 AM

Which model D-Link do you have? Although the newest versions use UPnP, the older versions don't so port forwarding would be necessary.

* Don't use the same port number as any other p2p program!!! Else, you will need to reboot computer or/& router to use LW.

Did you configure your xp firewall? See User Cant Connect - LimeWire

Suggestion of Last Resort

I have this feeling that you downloaded a virus and that's the thing that has screwed up your PC.

Chances are that you will have to completely reformat your disk, possibly several times to kill the virus, and reinstall all your apps.

Even if you run an AV now, to get rid of the virus, you are going to have a hard time finding and repairing the damage it has done, hence my suggesting of reformatting.

Anyway, as mentioned in the title, only use my suggestion as a last resort.
