First two things I would try...
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP Home Edition
2. What firewalls you have? none active (though LimeWire insists there's one)
3. How much ram? 1 GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 13.2 GB out of 80 GB (damn, gotta start freeing up some space there!)
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G v2
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LimeWire 4.13.8 Pro/Java 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says "Your test worked!".
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. no
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. It's happened before I think. It was going Turbo Connected before but now it's just Fair Connection and won't give any search results.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, I've always seen it even though I don't have any software or Windows firewalls turned on.
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? port forwarding
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA

Thanks in advance!

Ok a few things, firstly we will start with your router...
You have said that you have port forwarded, just check to see if it is configured correctly
These are your instructions..Check which one is yours...
Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54G v2.02.7
Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54Gv2.04

Also try this...
Go to your connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it...
Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more...
It is also wise to go to your Filters, to find this go to Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply...
And see if that helps...

Thanks! I think mine is the second link...

I did what you instructed for mrsqball. I uninstalled an old version of J2SE Run Environment and downloaded/installed the updated 5.11 offline version. I also uninstalled LimeWire and deleted the .limewire folder, rebooted, reinstalled the program, and it's working perfectly now! Thank you so much for your help!

This works. I had to try about 3 Ultrapeers but now I am up and going and running smooth. Thanks very much Xowe. You are my hero of the week man.

I tried over 10 "adds" in connections and nothing. Even if this did work or does for some people, it doesn't explain the need for doing this when LimeWare previously connected without "assistance". What's up?

I agree with you Star. I used to get on with no assistance but evidently there is some issue where limewire is apparently blocking a large batch of IPS. I have tried on several other relatives' comps some with DSL and some with the same service and have noticed that most of the relatives that are currently on DSL are having absolutely no issue whereas my family that is using the same ISP is having the EXACT same issue I am having. It seems there is some kind of blocking either by the ISP or limewire blocking certain ISPs or IP addresses.

I don't think it's your ISP or my ISP and I explained that in another thread see the thread I started http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...revisited.html. The reason is that although I have the same security on a desktop as a laptop on which I just recently installed LimeWire, when I unhook my DSL modem cable from the desktop to the laptop, the laptop connects with LimeWire perfectly (obviously same ISP). I don't know if this provides different ISP numbers (by using a different computer) but the problem sure seems to be common and not at our end. Where are all the computer gurus for a fix and not trying to turn us into detectives looking for clues and trying different things, most of which don't seem to work.
