Try these fixes...
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link...
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...

Here are some instructions on configuring BitDefender and limewire...
Port Forwarding for the BitDefender Internet Security v10

i didnt buy BitDefender Plus so it does not include a firewall. my only options when running BitDefender are AntiVirus and AntiSpyware. changing the port in Lw's settings didn't help either. anything else i can try ?

Yep a few more things to try...

Go to file (limewire window) and click on disconnect and then connect...

Right-click the Limewire icon and go into properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version.

Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!)

If none of those work we might have to look at your router as Linskys have Nat Firewalls and you may need to port forward, even though the other computers in your home are running limewire fine...
I will need the model number...;)
