Connecting error LimeWire was working, but now I get an error msg "Could not find a port to use for incomming connection. Please specify a port from the configuration window". Can someone help me with that? (OS is WinXP.) |
yeah i used to get that error message when using LW 1.6. it seems there was a glitch there somewhere. i can't remember what they told me to do, however, i found that if i hit "download all" instead of "download any" the download would begin with no error messages. hope that helps! |
Connect problem Thanks, but no help. I can't connect at all. I get a basic screen, but unable to do a search. I am able to get to Gnutella via the Start, Run, Telnet 64.61.25.171 6346 method. |
Same prob I'm also unable to connect and get the same "Could not find a port to use for incoming connections. Please specify a port from the configure window" message. Tried the Start/Run Telnet test (it works) and the File>Connect and can't get a connection. I'm using Norton Internet Security and told it to always allow Lime Wire to connect. OS is Wi***. Has anyone else had problems with Norton I.S.? I've tried turning it off completely but no change. |
Connecting problem Kath, Nothing in the view tab>connections. I'm using McAfee virus/firewall. LimeWire was working fine one day and I started getting the error message the next. No rhyme nor reason. I removed it and reloaded it and it did the same thing. |
Connecting problem KathW (and others), I think I found the problem. I must have inadvertently excluded it from my "allowed list" in McAfee firewall. Not sure how that occurred, though. Seems to be working as advertised now. Thanks for your input, Robert |
