Need help connecting around firewall 1. what OS version (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista) ? xp 2. What firewalls you have ? windows 3. How much ram ?448MB 4. Hard Disk space available ?on C: 2.14GB on D:16.7GB 5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ?broadband 6.Modem what brand name & model numbers ? 7.Router brand name & model numbers ? D-Link DI-624 8. Where are you trying to connect from (house, apartment complex, school, student accommodation, work, etc.) ?home 9. What version,LimeWire & Java, are you using. Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.?LW 4.14.0 Java 1.6.0_02 10. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ?Xplornet (Canada) 11. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ?your test worked 12. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.yes, the desktop is in the office and i'm trying to use my wireless laptop 13. Is this your 1st try at LW, or is this a new problem with an experienced user.?I used it before then i could never connect so i downloaded the newest version. I used it twice then now it won't connect 14. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ?yes 15. Have you given full permissions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ?yes 16. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.?on 17. In Start & remove Programs, Is this update Installed, "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)" ?yes If Windows Updates are not seen, Tick the box at top of page, (show updates) 18. Are you using Manual Port forward in LimeWire OR UPnP ?i tried both and neither would work You can check HERE, IN LimeWire Go, Tools/options/advanced/firewall Config :bangh:I don't understand why it would work two days in a row and then now it won't connect. I only get one bar. I have checked the firewall for windows and have tried using both ports. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and that didn't work. If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You |
1. Make sure your D-Link has UPnP enabled; Steps to Enable UPnP for D-Link DI-614+ If you do manual port forward, you must first set up a static ip or else the process won't work; PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall (check far left column down bottom.) One of these techniques of upnp or port forward should work. 2. Make sure you made exceptions for LW in your XP firewall; Firewall configuration instructions (click on link). Security updates are known to sometimes set the firewall back to default settings. |
