Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.

![]() I have Roadrunner timewarner with a Vonage router but can not connect to limewire. I paid for Limewire Pro but can not connect with it. Can someone help me? 1. OS version? XP Pro 2. What firewalls you have? BullGuard 3. How much ram? 1 gig 4. Hard Disk space available? over 300 gig 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem is a Motorola sb1501 Surfboard, router is a Vonage Motorolla VT2442-VD 7. Where are you trying to connect from? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Limewire4.14.0 Pro Java 1.6.0_02 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? I get "your test worked" 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. no 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st try 13. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? not sure 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall ![]() 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country. ![]() First of all, make sure that the XP firewall's off & that the Bullguard firewall's configured to allow LW. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall Some people have had problems with Java 1.6.0_02, try this version instead. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 You could try port forwarding for your router. These are the instructions for the VT2442...see if things are the same for your model. Port Forwarding for the Motorola VT2442 Don't forget the step of stting up a static IP address first. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number ![]() |
