OK Guys,

Lets see what we can do.

Bmxguy

You say that you share the connection, are you the administrator for your modem and router?

If you are, there are a few things you need to do:

a) Enable UPnP and IGD (Internet Gateway Discovery and Client Control) on your Windows XP, either your modem manual or the MS site will tell you how to do this.

b) Enable UPnP on Limewire.

See my attached screen prints for a) and b).

c) Enable UPnP on your modem and router (you can only do this if you are the administrator)

d) If "block ICMP" is enabled on your modem and/or router then disable it.

The object of all this is to give Windows and Limewire control over your modem (and router) and allow LW access to the internet.

However, if UPnP etc. does not work then the next stage is port forwarding.

Tcherryj

Your problem is entirely different, we have had other apartment dwellers from the US in this forum before. It seems that the ISP for your apartment complex may have decided to throttle P2P internet connections. If this is the case then you are stuck because, and as far as I understand, you cannot change ISPs or do anything about their anti-P2P policy.

However, if I am wrong (and I hope I am) get back to the forum and tell us.

Well Bex1

I'm glad we can entertain you, I mean if we can't solve your problems at least we brightened your day

And last but not least Ride1on

Apology accepted and no harm done.

UK Bob

I dont think I am the administrator but I know the administrator (my dad) gave me all the priveleges and stuff to do pretty much everything. So I will try what you said. I will report back tomorow or later.

Bmxguy

It may save some time if you ask your Dad for help, its possible that your Dad may know how to do all the stuff I've asked you to try.
