Q: Limewire brings down my entire internet connection!
 

Hey all -

Love Limewire and been using it since I got my cable modem.

Only problem: Periodically while using it, my modem goes 'off-line' - the lights on my modem (Teryaon) start flashing as if the network is down, it acts like it can't connect to the local router, like when you unplug the coax from the back of the thing - which means limewire, e-mail, etc.. NOTHING can connect to the outside world for as long as ten minutes. This only happens when using Limewire, and usually only happens when downloading large files.

I'm using the Rogers Cable high speed internet (what used to be @home before they tanked).. any suggestions?

Have you contacted your isp?

This sounds like it's their problem to me. (But I'm often wrong)


When I experienced something like this I called them up and they fixed it from the office while I was on the phone with them.

I wish I still had my cable modem. I had it one during the time napster was hot but it ran me too much $$$$$$ to keep it on line.
