Why does the program quit when it tries to connect? OS: XP Home SP2 Firewalls: Windows, also behind Netgear router - port forwarding is *not* enabled, nor is uPnP (but see below). Java: java -version reports 1.6.0_01 RAM: 1 Gb Disk space: truckloads Net: Cable, up to 2 Gb download --- As the subject says - why does the program simply quit? I can see from the status bar as it starts up that it gets as far as loading up the previous downloads that you started, so it must be when it tries to start connecting - it just simply quits - no error message or anything. I can understand there may be connection problems x, y or z - but why can't it *say* it had a problem, what the problem is (so we can tell you), and then exit nicely? It's basically crashing. Please note that I *have* had it working quite nicely before - and great download / upload speeds - I've even managed to get it working after it started the quit-without-warning thing once (but I don't know how). Now, though, I can't get it to start for love nor money. Nothing on my system has changed, except for the clock, counting the hours until the next weekend {:v) So in other words, my firewall / router / internet / java combo is perfectly usable. The program just seems to have gotten itself into a state it can't get out of. Any ideas? |
Try these fixes and lets see if we can keep limewire from quiting, if there is a firewall problem we will check that out, once this problem is fixed...
