Cool Connection Problem

I have just upgraded to the the latest limewire version, but when I try to download files, a message comes up saying limewire is still trying to connect, but it does not connect. when you look look under the file menu, the connect word is greyed out. Im running it on windows XP, and have had no problems with previous limewire versions.
can anyone offer me any advice?
thanks adie

Hi adie.hemmings

Try this - it worked for me

[1] Uninstall the old version before installing the new -- delete the old LW folders from the Programs directory before installing the new version
[2] Ensure that you have java script J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 (Jre ver 5) if not download from here:-

Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

· Uninstall Limewire by using LW uninstall program not the add/remove control panel
Start -> All Programs -> Limewire -> Uninstall

· delete old LW folder from programs directory:-
c:\programs\Limewire <--- (delete this folder)

Hope this helps -- please let us know

That's great macaro -- only glad to help out -- for some reason the latest version of Limewire wont run with java 6 -- I hope this helps others out there with the same problem.

LW runs just fine with the latest Java updates for some people
Connection Problem-javaversion.jpg

However, many XP users do find that they need to revert to an older version, I don't know why. If people do need to update Java, or download an older version, they should download the offline installer (less chance of corrupted installation). Also remove any other Java versions before installing the one they plan to use (a few people have found that reverting to the older Java hasn't helped...until they've removed other Java versions installed).

I am using the latest version of Java and I am running on Windows XP and I had no problems until just a little while ago and that has something to do with my sister's account on my computer.
