all of a sudden will not connect (a fix to try) my limewire has been acting fine for the past six months until very recently i only got one bar. i tried restarting the computer. i downloaded the newer version of limewire. i tried re opening it several times (and yes i have waited, for up to many minutes). i checked my firewalls and they are all set. i have hit the 'connect' button that is under file. and i have deleted it and re installed it. i dont know what else to do |

Try this first: Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. In case you're using Vista: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista Some people have had connection problems with some Java versions. You can either try updating to the latest version here (I have this one & LW's working fine): Java SE Downloads or try this older version, which has worked well for lots of people: Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Whichever Java version you use, download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing another one. If that doesn't help, please give us your details. System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!! |

You're fine...this is a PITA for you Ok, here's what you have to do: Make sure LW is closed. Go to My computer > double click C drive > double click Documents and Settings > double click your username. Now you should see an Application Data folder...double click that. Once you're inside that App Data folder, you should see a folder named LimeWire That LimeWire folder should be there Delete the sucker. Then restart LW & see if it connects. |

Ok that's good, it means that you deleted the folder properly. This is a link to download a gnutella.net file. Download this & save the file to your computer. zSHARE - gnutella.net Make sure LW's closed. Go back to that LimeWire folder. You deleted it & now there'll be a new one in it's place. Double click on the LimeWire folder to open it. Inside, you'll see a heap of files like these See the file called gnutella.net (or gnutella)...delete that one. Leave the LimeWire folder open. Now copy & paste the gnutella.net file that you downloaded into that folder. Once it's in there, close all those folders that you have open. Restart LW.
