Default Nothing should be this hard it worded fine before upgrade

I am going to give up. Nothing should be this hard. Limewire was working just fine a week or so ago. I upgraded and all went to ****. I think it's a bug in the program and intill they fix it no one will connect. Shame on Limewire

Is this a scam by limewire to get me to upgrade to limewire pro?

If I pay the $13.95 for pro, will I be able to connect.

This is beyond frustrating. I was surfing on limewire and now

I AM STILL STUCK AT ONE BAR CONNECTION.

Please let me know if I pay, will it work correctly?

thanks
Lou

Default Help!!!!!

I follwed these to the T! it still didnt work and i have pro..i have reinstalled it and deleted the extra java files and reinstalles limewire 15 or more times......downloaded the gnutella file too.....still didnt work..what is the issue..the only thing that has worked for me ONCE..i tried to take the computer to a restore point befor i updated files and addd windows office....i worked for about an hour that night (although the restore didnt take..for what ever reaso..)..the next day it went be to starting connecting msg and thats all i have seen since.
Goooooood luck.

THANK YOU BIRDY

1. Make sure that LW is closed properly by opening task manager (ctrl/alt/del) & see if there's a LW process running. If there is, end that process.

2. Go to Control Panel, double click on Folder Options & then click on the View tab. Make sure there's a dot in the radio button next to 'Show hidden files and folders' then click Apply & click OK.

3. Now go to Start > click on My Computer > double click on C drive > double click on the folder with your username. Once you're in the 'your username' folder, look for a folder named .limewire & if you have a folder named .limewire, delete that whole folder. If you don't have a folder named .limewire then that's ok. Close all windows that you have open.

4. Go back to Start > click on My Computer > double click on C drive > double click on Documents and Settings > double click on the folder with your username > double click on Application Data. Once you're in the Application Data, look for a folder named LimeWire (there's no dot in front of this one & the letters aren't all lower case). Delete that whole folder named LimeWire. Close all windows that you have open.

5. Restart your computer. This isn't always necessary, but just to be on the safe side...do it now anyway.

6. Start up LW & see whether it will connect. If LW connects, you're all done & you can go back through tools > options & set everything there to the way you like it.

7. If LW still isn't connecting after about 10 minutes, close LW & check in task manager to make sure that it's properly closed. Click on this link zSHARE - gnutella.net That will take you to a file hosting site, where you can download a file named gnutella.net...download this file & save it to your computer. Remember where you saved the file to.

8. Go back to Start > My computer > C drive > Application Data. find the folder named LimeWire & double click on this LimeWire folder to open it. This is the folder that you deleted previously....when LW is started, a new LimeWire folder is created. Once you're inside the LimeWire folder, look for a file named gnutella.net (or it might be named gnutella). Once you've found the file named gnutella.net (or gnutella), delete that file. Don't close any windows, just leave the folder that you're in open.

9. Now find the gnutella.net file that you just downloaded. Copy that & paste it into that LimeWire folder that you have open. You deleted the old gnutella.net file & now you're replacing it with another one. When you've pasted the gnutella.net file into the folder, close all windows that you have open.

10. Restart your computer & then start LW.[/quote]

Thanks for all this advise....I too was suffering the loss of connection strength after applying the new upgrade. The simple answer was to uninstall limewire completely and then go to the limewire homesite, download to a folder, and then re-install it. The gnutella file followed along on it's own.

Thanks again........Maxx

EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!! To solve most of these one bar connection problems, just uninstall your version of Java and install the latest version of Java. This works. Don't worry about messing around with files that might end up in tragedy when you cant get everything back the way it was. Just install the latest version of Java. It won't mess with your files or anything like that.(I have an iPod that inhabits almost 800 files, there's not way I could delete everything and start over, so I get everyone's desperation completely)
I really really really hope this helps everyone. Don't worry with looking through folders and files that probably aren't even 1% of the problem. If you've indeed tried this and there is still no hope, I totally can't help you. I think it's ridiculous that you have to've paid a lot of money to get any kind of tech support, but if it wasn't for someone named Birdy who helped me out and saved my sanity from total annihilation, I wouldn't be able to pass on this awesome knowledge. ~Dramatic bow~ Again, I hope this helps.
