If it is, we have SpeedStream, and I have no idea what a router is... 7. My house 8. LW= 4.13.12 Java= 1.6.0_02 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? 10. Your test worked!! is what it said... 11. Um, We have another computer, and I think it might be on the same connection.... 12. No, I've had LW for about 10 or 11 months 13. Yes, there's a brick wall. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I have no idea what this means... 15. We have AVG Free Edition, and Norton Protection Center, but the Virus Protection thing expired months ago. 16. ![]() 2. XP has it's own firewall. You can check if it's turned on by going to Control Panel > Windows Firewall. Make sure that the firewall's allowing LW. User Cant Connect - LimeWire Check if you have any others by looking in C:\Program Files. Also look at the icons in your system tray...if you have a firewall active, it should show up there & when you hover your mouse over the icons it'll probably show the name of the program. If you do find another firewall, you'll have to turn off either the Windows or other firewall...don't have 2 running at once. Let us know if you find another firewall. 6. Check all boxes that connect to your computer & let you connect to the net. If the Speedstream's the only one you have, find the model number (might be underneath). If there's another box with lights on it, find the brand & model of that as well. 9. Which company do you pay for your internet service? If LW's just stopped connecting all of a sudden, try updating your Java version & also delete LW's preferences folder. Have a look at this post for more info. Follow the steps right from the beginning, up to point 6. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...tml#post296950 |

If you can delete the preferences folder(s) but LW still won't connect, you could try replacing the gnutella.net file. If you go back to this link http://www.gnutellaforums.com/296950-post15.html you'll see that there are more instructions for deleting & replacing that file. Point 7 onwards. I've tried to make those instructions as basic & easy to follow as possible ![]() If you're still stuck, try port forwarding for your router. The instructions are here. Port Forwarding for the Efficient(Siemens) Speedstream 5200 Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router's setup should all be the same number. |
