![]() Hey guys and girls, I just recently got myself a Mac and installed the Leopard OS. Im running 2GB ram, 500GB hard-disk, with a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz. My ISP is fine with Limewire (as i have used it with my desktops previously). Modem is a Netcomm but that is not the problem as i have had no problems with it. I have tried manually port forwarding, changing firewall settings, java settings, and reinstalling limewire and I still only have one bar and a firewall icon, telling me that i don't have a connection. My BT client works fine as well, it is only Limewire in which i have trouble in getting a connection. I have read through most of the threads in hopes of help but failing miserably. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks and much appreciated for any response! |

![]() 1. I don't have Leopard yet, thought I'd wait till I get my new computer in coming months. But the firewall configuration should be similar to Tiger's; OSX Firewall settings for Tiger, else turn it off. I keep my firewall off whilst using LW. 2. Make sure you're not using same ports as any other program such as BitTorrent. 3. When you say you tried port forwarding, did you ensure you set up a static ip first, as otherwise the port forward process simply won't work unless you do it before setting the firewall port rule, because it's based on ip; PortForward.com - Setting up Static ip for Mac OSX. Also, after changing any router settings, it is a good idea to reboot both router & computer, though not always necessary depending on brand & model. 4. (a) Problems with the search, __ (b) Hostiles List 5. You can go to LW's prefs (keyboard shortcut: ⌘ ,) & under Connections, set LW to start manually. Then restart LW, wait for it to load & settle for a few mins, then go to menu bar, File > Connect. Give it plenty of time to try to connect. 6. Also, do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? (sample image) |

![]() Firewall has been off the whole time, I even tried turning it on while allowing Limewire permission to allow connection. Not using same port as my BT client, and the changes were made on the modem and firewall. Rebooted modem already and computer. I've been slashing at this problem for a few days now. I've always deleted the preference folder for limewire, still not responding. |

![]() Oops edited on a point at end of last post not realising you'd already replied. lol ![]() Try setting up another account. Call it Test or something & try running LW from there; Setting up new account in OSX * From what I've seen of Leopard users who have had connection problems after upgrading to Leopard, it seems reinstalling Java offline, else reinstalling the OSX seems to fix it. But the latter is a biggish job. Reinstalling Java may require removing the most recent Java listed file in Receipts folder but only if it says you already have most recent java version. |
