Default Connection Problems Solved (READ BEFORE POSTING)

It seems that the new download of Limewire has a bug in it where the gnutella.net file is messed up... to fix this you need to replace it with a previous one!

Okay this is very easy to fix,

STEP 1. shut down limewire

STEP 2. DO NOT delete with your preferences folder, instead only delete gnutella.net file from that folder if your having this problem it should only be 1kb in size.

STEP 3. download zSHARE - gnutella.net (this is your new gnutella.net file)

STEP 4. put the new gnutella.net file in your preferences folder (notice it is around 20kb in size)

STEP 5. restart computer, start limewire (if it doesn't connect right away, wait a couple of minutes)

let me know if this fixes the problem.

People need to know where to find their preferences folder...so that they can relpace their gnutella.net (many people don't even know that it exists, let alone what it's called or how to find it).

XP users using the newer versions of LW (more recent than 4.9.34) should look for their preferences folder in C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\LimeWire. XP users who are still using much older versions of LW (older than 4.9.34) should look for their preferences folder in C:\Documents and Settings\your username\.limewire

Vista users should find their preferences folder here: C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire
And more info about how to find the folder here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html

Both XP & Vista users will need to show hidden files & folders in order to be able to find a preferences folder in the new location (for LW versions newer than 4.9.34). XP users can do this by going to Control Panel > Folder Options > click on the View tab > check the radio button to show hidden files & folders > apply > ok. Vista users, see the Vista pref folder link above.

It worked!! I deleted the 1kb versions of gnutella.net from each user preferences folder and replaced one with the 20kb version. I had already tried removing and reloading several times and even contacted my ISP. thanks...

I already deleted my preference folder, and loading limewire isn't returning it. Anything I can do? I've been myself trying stuff to fix mine. The start-up square comes up, and I get an error message:

"LimeWire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking LimeWire access to the internet or loop-back connections in the local machine. Please allow LimeWire access to the internet and restart LimeWire."

I am not completely connecting to LimeWire. I can still download files but my LimeWire player does not work and my status bar only says LimeWire enabling. How can I fix this? I can't find my preferences folder for lime wire and have tried to find it using the ways shown but do not see a preferences folder. HELP
