Default Ghost Firewall

I am using Limewire (of course) and I need to Direct Connect to my brother who also has the latest version of Limewire. Neither one of us has upgraded to pro. He has wedding pictures that he wants to share and alternatively, I have new baby pictures to give. My problem is that the program insists that I have a firewall keeping me from direct connected to another computer. I know what you're going to say first. Have you turned off the windows firewall and any other firewall that you might have running. I'll do you one better, I've turned off EVERYTHING except the bare minimum that will allow me to surf the internet by using msconfig and services.msc to confirm. When I start Limewire I still get the damn brick wall in front of the globe. It's really starting to get personal. I would like to know what I am doing wrong, or where I'm not looking and ultimately how to get rid of that damn phantom firewall, because I can't even create a share files folder using msn IM at this point. Someone, anyone help me out on this issue. Thanks for listening/reading whatever.

Sorry about that my URL broke when I copied it.

OK, I see you have no idea about port forwarding or UPnP, so first things first, set up UPnP on your modem, LW and your O/S.

How to enable IDGC and UPnP on WinXP SP2.

1) UPnP on Limewire and PC are enabled

2) Are you the administrator for your modem/router, i.e. you cam make configuration changes without any problems? <--- I'm the only one using this PC and the manufacturer says that the modem only forwards info and doesn't try to filter anything

3) Have you tried to "port-forward" your modem/router? See previous

4) Connected to modem by cable

5) I use Windows Firewall and AVG (the paid version) both are disabled when I try to solve this issue

6) I have initiated UPnP and IDGC in Windows XP and UPnP is selected in Limewire as well

Not sure where to go from here.

OK

You also need to enable UPnP on your modem, see your modem's manual for this, and you may have to disable "Block IGMP" if your modem has this facility.

After that you should be OK.

Default My modem

The instructions on my modem simply state that I should plug it in and it should work. (After turning on the TCP/IP stuff)

There is no way to configure the UPnP stuff in the instructions. And again the manufacturer says that the modem does not try to block, or filter anything. It just lets anything and everything pass through from the computer to the internet. I am using a Motorola Surfboard SB5101. Oh, and I still can't Direct Connect to anyone.
