ive tried everything on here to get my limewire to connect and NOTHING has worked. im using windows XP and the problem is, whenever i open limewire, it says that im connecting to the network, and no matter how long i leave it or anything, it never connects. i used to have limewire and it worked perfectly and idk whats goin on now. please help.

I guess you've tried the fixes here.
If LW Will Not Connect

When you replaced the gnutella.net file, did you make sure that LW was properly closed? Otherwise it won't make any difference.
When you updated Java, did you make sure to remove any other Java versions that were installed on your computer before installing the new one?
When you deleted LW's preferences folder, did you look for a folder in both the old & new locations?

If nothing's working, we'll need your system details.

i didnt know where to get the gnutella.net file from but i got it from that link and saved it into the folder and now it works! thanks!

dunno about pure metal, but I keep a barbed broomstick and a jar of chunky peanut butter for lube around for those that need it...
