Degraded performance from new version

Could an administrator please respond as to why the new version of LimeWire made many people who were able to connect with the previous version to have problems. In addition, the connection seems to be very unstable with many lost connections. Will these issues be resolved or at least an explanation released as to if this is the new version which has a different way of connecting or if it is server side. Thanks.

Newer Version - Worse

I am not an administrator, but I too would like to see someone knowledgable respond with a good answer.

After reading many of these postings I know that the newest version utilizes Ultrapeer connections which are SUPPOSED to be more reliable than the previous ones. I also know that the number of connections previously reported were erroneous. And, lastly, I am aware of the problems introduced by working behind a firewall.

BUT inspite of all of that I have tried version 1.8 and version 2.02 and compared the results in a stable system with consistent variables. There is no doubt that version 1.8 behaves better and more reliably than 2.02.

Yes, with 1.8 there are a number of reported "hits" on my searches which will not Download. But that is better than getting multiple Ultrapeer connections with NO "hits" on my searches resulting in NO downloads. At least with 1.8 I had a chance of getting something.

PLEASE, no matter whether it is LimeWire or Renegade, we, as users, need to get a program which can be of use to us or the user base will evaporate. There is enough pressure on us from potential legal action against peer-to-peer operations without the software developers chasing us away with "improvements" which do just the opposite.

Thanks for listening to my rambling.
