![]() I'm here because the newly purchased Limewire 4.9 my wife bought will not connect. First, the needed system answers: 1)OS is Win XP pro w/S2 2)Windows firewall 3)2 GB ram 4)free space: C:77.1GB,D:97.5GB,E:261GB - One 500GB hardrive split up 5)cable 6)Modem: Arris model TM502G, Router: Netgear model WPN824 v2 7)home 8)Limewire: 4.9.37 Java: i.6.0_03 9)Insight 10)my test worked 11)yes. another desktop, both using LAN from router, always on. 2 laptops using wireless from router. using Limewire on other desktop...program details below. 12)Been using Limewire for few years.Experienced with using program, but not with all the port setup stuff....I know enough to get myself in trouble! 13)yes 14)UPnP enabled....aparently....see below 15)Avast 16)USA Now the twist. As mentioned above,I am using Limewire on my other desktop...and it works...turbo connected and all. Why did my wife buy the upgrade? No idea except that this PC is new and she didn't wait until I got all the stuff loaded onto it! If I can't get it to work, someone is going to be giving her a refund! Details of the other desktop are the same except the following: ram is only 1GB(I think),free space is 21GB,Limewire version 4.12.11(Java is the same). No brickwall in front of the world. Connection, ISP, router, modem....all the same. I have tried replacing the Gnutella file. I have tried removing the preferences file.I have tried uninstall/reinstall Java.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the whole program.I have tried using the same advanced(firewall/proxy) setting as the 4.12 . I'm done now. I would prefer to have the upgrade working, but as I said, If I can't it will go bye bye. 4.9 has been attempting to connect for 35 minutes now and no connection(yes I have tried restarting....many times!!). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help! |

![]() If your wife just paid for 4.9.37 Pro then I'd suggest she was scammed...when people buy Pro from the official site Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « they download the latest version of LW Pro. The latest stable release is 4.14.12. 4.9.37 was released in November, 2005. There are no old installers available for windows users to download from the official site. Try to find out who she paid for LW (she might've recieved a confirmation email/receipt). Contact your bank/CC company & report this, they may be able to stop payment. Membership? - **BEWARE** - Download p2p Clients ONLY Thru Official Sites (click on link) get your $$$ BACK!!! (music members) Just FYI, the official site has a no refund policy for Pro...because the basic version is free to use for as long as you like. Frequently Asked Questions - LimeWire I'd suggest you uninstall the old Pro (start > all programs > Limewire > use the uninstall option), just in case the app is corrupted or has some malware attached. Then use your computer's search to look for all files & folders with limewire in the name, delete what you find. Restart your computer & then download & install the latest free LW from the official site. Try replacing the gnutella.net file again in the new version, if it doesn't connect. Remember that LW must be completely closed before deleting the preferences folder or replacing the gnutella.net file...otherwise it's a waste of time. If you're sure that you've done those steps correctly & there's still no connection, try port forwarding for your router. The instructions are here. Port Forwarding for the Netgear WPN824v2 Don't forget to set up a static IP address first. LW's listening port, port number in the 'manual port forward' box & port number forwarded within the router setup should all be the same number. |
