I've read a lot of the old threads and tried to use the suggestions and nothing worked so far.

I just recently reformatted my computer and before this I used Limewire and it worked fine. Here are the specs of my system:
Windows XPS2
Windows Firewall with Live OneCare application
512 MB RAM
40 GB Harddrive
Wireless cable internet connection
Westel Modem and Linksys Router
Connecting from Home
ISP: Bellsouth
The test on that link said it worked fine
I do see a brickwall in front of the globe
UPnP is enabled on my router.

So the other computer that connects has no problem connecting to Limewire, and this computer never did either until I reformatted it. I checked the firewall to make sure Limewire was allowed and also the UPnP on my router. When I load Limewire it has only 1 bar and the rest are red and it states "Starting Connection" the whole time. I've also tried to completely shut off the firewall, and it still does not connect. The globe does a brick wall in front of it. Thanks for anyones help

I am having the same probem. Even purchased the Limewire Pro thinking that woud help. I have just about the same problem as you. If you get some help wil you et me know? Desperate. I have spent hours on this!
