firewall problems. hey, i'm new to the forums but i've used limewire for quite a while. Up untill now, i have been able to to download stuff. Very lately it wont connect, and i know it has something to do with my firewall, so how do i change the firewall settings? i've tried changing it in the options but it has no effect =[. |
What OS do you have? What kind of firewall are you using? |
Hello. I'm new to this forum as well and have the exact same problem as the first poster. I have a Windows XP system. As far as firewall: its just the regular Windows Firewall system under the control panel. I've already checked and re-checked the settings, allowed the exception for the program, un-installed and re-installed the entire program and still am being blocked by a firewall. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. |
I have the same problem as joeyhimself. I am using Windows XP but the Windows firewall is disabled. I am using the latest Norton software and the new Limewire is on the allowed list. I did get to use LW yesterday after I renewed subscription, but today it will not connect and the firewall symbol is up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
I have vista and can't get rid of firewall. |
I am a new member here, and I am having the same problem also. I cant get the firewall down. I have had a computer tech out to my house and he couldnt figure it out either. We tried to add the port to my system, we tried deleting the Only security program that I have on my system and we tried to add the site as "allowed" to my system...Nothing is working. Maybe if we are all having the same issue, it is the program being downloaded from limewire? Just a thought. |
I'm using Windows XP Pro and I have the same problem. LW worked fine on this computer up until a few days ago. Now it says it's detected a firewall and won't connect. Only got one green bar and the brick wall is up. Even after I disabled my firewall and restarted LW. Any idea whats goin on? |
ALL, Pse read this link (If LW will not connect) by birdy and work yr way through these fixes -- if they don't work try this link (Connection Problems) by Lord Of The Rings -- if yr OS is vista you can also try this link (Vista major Topics) by Lord Of The Rings otherwise post yr system details here |
i'me on windows vista, worked fine until it updated itself to 4.16.1 then would'nt work get 4 clear lines but firewall on world (and 25 people tried message?) etc, then blocked me out completely when i got new sky HD box connected, and 2 sons can't connect to x box live, could it be a problem with sky broadband blocking it? i've lifted firewall put port numbers in, deleted reinstalled, don't know what to do now, |
I have the same problem. Shows a firewall blocking access ,but my security program is allowing limewire. I agree with mminnick32. If we are all having the same problem it must be with the limewire program. |
OK! It's fixed! I replaced the gnutella.net file and updated Java and one or both of those did the trick. Thanks. see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html |
