Question inside-server-outside with bandwidth limitation

i already posted that in the general-general-forum...

i life in a studenthouse with a internal network and a shared connection to the internet with a linux-pc as gateway/firewall. because of a *small* bandwidth-problem we need to limit p2p.

i thought of a server installed on that linux-box as the only way out. everyone inside just connects to that server and can share files with everybody inside AND outside the firewall.

we could install limewire on that linux-box, so that internal downloads are more often, but that would not solve the overall bandwidth-problem.

one reply mentioned reflector, some kind of proxy/server, but the site has ceased operations.

thanks for any suggestions...

A suggestion:

Install LimeWire on the gateway Linux box and set these in the limewire.props file:
FORCE_SUPERNODE_MODE=true
EVER_SUPERNODE_CAPABLE=true
DISABLE_SUPERNODE_MODE=false

On the computers in the internal net delete all of the existing quick connect hosts in the LimeWire options and add the IP of the gateway. For the Keep approx. connections up in the Connections tab set this value to 1.

See if this works. Firewall settings on the client machines or the gateway might also need to be adjusted but that is more difficult for me to picture what the changes would be right now.
