My problem is that Ever since I uploaded to the new Limewire I can't connect properly. I have Pro and A Hight speed connection, but my connection status in limewire will not go past poor connection. Also when it is loading it detects my firewall, but when it starts to connect the symbol disappears.


1. OS version = Windows XP home

2. Firewalls = windows firewall(off) and Macafee personal firewall(on)

3. RAM = ?not sure

4. Hard Disk space = 3.6 gigs

5. Connection type = broadband I do believe.

6. Modem = Speedstream 6520

8. LimeWire 4.16.6 Pro
Java 1.6.0_05

9. Aliant, service to Atlantic Canada.

10. My test worked!

11. No single computer network.

12. I have used lime wire many times and second time with PRO.

13. Only when loading, not when it starts to connect.

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Not sure

15. MacAfee Total Protection with firewall on. No problems before because I let limewire access the internet.

This problem has only started recently when i upgraded, actually the second day of the upgrade.

You may need to cancel the MacAfee setting and re-do for the new version of LW.

I have tried resetting the status and that never worked, I replaced the gnutella.net file already and also updated java.

I might try a reinstall soon.

One thing to try is removing your Java versions and reverting to Java 1.5_10 as sometimes that can make a difference. Not sure in your case. Step 1 here Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link). Since LW was working fine before, this might not be the answer.

Something else to try is go to LW's menu bar, Tools > Options > Advanced > Performance and disable Ultrapeer and DHT and TLS. Then press apply. Then connect manually. If it connects, then can re-enable those performance options.
