![]() Hi there, my name is Jay, and I have a SERIOUS limewire/firewall issue. It started long ago when, all of a sudden, Limewire stopped connecting to the network. I reinstalled Limewire, and nothing. I left the country for 8 months, and now that I'm back, I've tried to fix it again. I've disabled Windows Firewall, I uninstalled McAfee. Then I re-enabled Windows Firewall and reset all the exceptions, including specific port-watches. For one day my Limewire worked again. This was on my routed computer from the main computer, through a D-Link DI-604. Now I've left it alone. I went on my main computer to see if Limewire worked here, and it didn't. So I installed an earlier version of the program, did all the things I did before... and nothing. Then I did a search on my computer to see if I had any other third-party firewall programs installed. After I searched, once I went back to my control panel, Windows Firewall was completely GONE. Now when I click on anything having to do with my firewall, it won't even give me an error message - it just won't load anything altogether. I've looked online for shared access fixes, the link from support to reinstall windows firewall. Now my firewall is permanently ON. 1. How do I get windows firewall back, and do I need to get it back? 2. How do I fix my settings so that I may use limewire again? Thank you guys SO much. I just don't know what to do anymore! ![]() Well you definately need a Firewall. Windows Firewall, Probably Not. Try configuring McAfee Firewall to give LW full access. Also see Link below on Port Forwarding your DLink Router. Hope this Helps. Port Forwarding for the Dlink DI-604 |
