![]() I know that updating SP actually changes the firewall settings. Check again that it's off or that settings haven't changed. If you recently updated your LW also, it's worth making a note of your LW settings and then delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) |

![]() I took a good look at the firewall, by clicking the icon in the tray, and it isn't on, and the test doesn't show the brick as its called. And I clicked on the firewall icon (right click) and went to the security center ( I think that's what they called it) and went to the exceptions part, and it shows an exception for Limewire. I looked all over and did the search for folders & files for the .limewire, but I don't have one. Also I show hidden folders and files. I looked at the add/remove part of the control panel and see that I have the following "versions" of java either on the computer, or updated. J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11 Java (tm) 6 update 2 " " " " 3 " " " " 5 Java (tm) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1 And it still "hangs", or, won't go past the "trying to connect". ![]() Too many versions of Java. Remove all. Then reinstall using the OFFLINE version of Java. Download Java software from Sun Microsystems If you don't have a folder called .limewire then you will have one called limewire found in the (hidden) Application Data folder. |

![]() I have deleted the limeware folder in the Applications folder. I also have just d/l the Java OFFLINE version. I will delete all those other versions first, then install the one I d/l'd, OFFLINE. Then I will see if Limewire will work. |

![]() Well, it now works!! Thank you very much for your assistance, Lord of The Rings!! To get Limewire to work again, I had to do as you said about bothe eliminating the Limewire folder in the applications folder, and ensure that the firewall is off, or if there is one, make sure that there is an exception for Limewire. I also had to delete the version that was installed, and do a regedit, deleting references to Limewire. (Only do this if you know what you are doing). Also, again as you said, delete those versions of Jave, and D/L, and install the OFFLINE version of Java. After doing that, all is well in whoville once again!! Again, Thank You!! |
