Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. It's hard to determine what the problem is if you don't tell us your details..... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html

Try an earlier version: LW 4.16, 14, or 12 LimeWire 4.16.3 Download, ___ LimeWire 4.14 Download, ___ LimeWire 4.12. You will probably need to remove the firewall rule you made for LW & re-add it for the different version for Norton Firewall. Disable your XP firewall because both Norton & XP firewalls run together will result in less security not more, and will cause problems running efficiently. Configuring Norton Internet Security I see your ISP is Road Runner. No problems running p2p thru them as far as I know. However, the fact you are having problems using other p2p sharing programs suggests a problem at your end. Edit: if still problems, try these suggestions: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html Last edited by Lord of the Rings; September 12th, 2008 at 05:57 PM. |

alright, i have Norton security, but i cant locate it on my computer. All's it does is scan for viruses once a week anyway. I tried turning off the windows firewall, and then connecting, but LW still didnt work. Oh, i did try to download another version, but when it installs, its 4.18 not 4.14 like i downloaded |

NIS is a firewall/AV....sounds like you just have the AV, so you don't have 'Norton security'

i have an RCA Modem with a Netgear router. its wireless, but i have a cable hooked up to it. (we have wireless because my brother has a laptop) Other than that, we have 2 desktops hooked up to it. my computer is the only one that limewire will not work on. |

Sounds like a set up issue with router & networking that's causing the issues. If your brother uses LW, make sure you do not use the same connection or listening ports. Hard wiring has so many advantages over wireless. Glad to see you chose that option. However something is astray. Possibly the router's NAT causing issues which is why port forwarding might be more appropriate so the PF rule is directed specifically to your computer (ie: via the ip address.) For some reason UPnp is not working, since Netgear in general have reliable UPnp, however on occasions PF is the better approach; at least more reliable. I do not know your model of Netgear. BTW routers will reserve one port per application per computer or/& user account. So that's why it's so important to make sure your other LW's all use different connection & listening ports to any others used on your network. Check via LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewalls. If the ports are the same then change to a port between ports 49152 - 65535. (Any other computer trying to connect via same port will simply be blocked out by the router.) Last edited by Lord of the Rings; September 13th, 2008 at 06:27 PM. |
