i am so frustrated that I could scream!

when I follow the instructions and try to allow limewire, my antivirus console does not give me the option to add any programs.

I have paid for Limewire Pro in the past, only to have it expire before I ever got it to work.

Prior to getting my new laptop I never had a problem connecting to Limewire so it must be my virus protection.

Can anyone help??

I am having the same problems. I have deleted limewire and reloaded it and it still does this. Did you get any luck yet?

It might not be your AV... might be a software or hardware firewall or any number of other things - LW can behave differently on different computers. Try the fixes in the thread below & of nothing there helps, please post back with your system details.

Hi there thanks for the imput, I have disabled the defender firewall. I actually think it was done automatically through Trend, the way I did it was to disable various protection through Trend.
I now have the problem of remenants of a older version of Limewire preventing me using the EXE file, I have gone through add/remove but I need to know the safest method to get the rest of it. Ps My Toshiba A300 is unstable at the best of times although it is NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas??????????

AFAIK it's better to use LW's own uninstall option (start > all programs > LW > uninstall).

i have limewire pro, used to have the free version which worked fine untill a few months ago. it had just one green bar and didn't turn up any search results. i tried all the fixes and ended up getting pro. now i have the same problem again. i have tried all the fixes over and over again.

i have vista basic
belkin 54g router (im not wirelessly connected to it)
1gb of RAM
plenty of disk space
broadband
im at home
latest version of java
im not sure who my provider is, possibly virgin :-S
when i went to http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ it said my test worked
dont think i have other p2p sharing programs
i see the brick wall but i did before when it worked
i have avast! and windows firewall but i have let limewire through them both and even tried it when they are disabled. i have also tried it when the belkin 54g firewall is disconnected.
i live in england

If you need to get rid of anything don't do windows removal go to www.revouninstaller.com and download it it gets rid of everything and very easy to use, hope it fixes it for you and Merry christmas.

After you deleted the preferences folder, did you have to go through LW's setup wizard all over again?

Have you tried port forwarding for your router? I don't know the model of your router, but if you go to this site you can find your router in the list, then select LW from the programs list & you'll find step by step instructions.
