Unhappy Cant connect. here are my proxy settings

Hello

Im using LW in my office in a proxy environment. We have been provided HTTP proxy settings, ie. I know the server name and the port to which I should be connecting (10.0.0.14, and 8080). Also it requires authentication. Ive been given a user ID and a password (ID: FINACCOUNTS, Pwd: ACC123).

Now how to setup these simple settings? I tried setting the Proxy settings in LW's options. I selected HTTP option, and provided the server name and port. But for the ID & Pwd it says not for HTTP proxy. Even if I type it there it doesnt work.

All in all it doesnt connect to the network. Please help!

PS. My browser connects to the internet fine. I also tried http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ and it works.

One thing you could try would be to uninstall LW and all Java versions on your system. Reboot and then download the JRE offline installer of the newest Java version from here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Install it and reboot again, then reinstall LW.

In my situation, java is already installed and it faces no problem. All java-based sites open fine. I can see the Java icon in the taskbar when a site opens. Im just having some LW problem.

Are you saying that LW connects to Gnutella through Java ? If Java is properly configured then LW SHOULD work well?

Proxies you need to keep strolling through them until you find one that works. I've been told most are slow but occasionally you find a reasonable one.
