1 Attachment(s) Possible Cause: I have a suspicion your LPE was unable to connect due to a 64-bit Java 7 update. ie: LimeWire changed its location for the settings to top level of your user account with the name .limewire and your shared files also changed location to a folder called LimeWire also at top level of your user account. You can check this yourself. If yes then delete those folders. The normal location of the settings is in the appdata folder, not the top level of your user account. And your original LW shared folders will be within your 'My Documents' folder. Don't touch the original folder. Possible Fix: Go to the java site and look for the 32-bit java update. When you install it will probably say its already installed but install anyway. If using Vista or later, right-click the Java installer and choose 'Run as Administrator' if you use an administrator account. Next time you start LPE all should be back to normal with any luck. If after deleting the .limewire folder you are asked to do the setup again when you open LW, then all is not back to normal yet. This seems to be a Java 7 issue. Attachment 6331 (Folders underlined in red can be deleted if they exist. This is caused by a Java 7 issue.) |
My Limewire Pirate version suddenly stopped working two days ago. I haven't changed anything in it at all. I have windows 7 64bit running java 1.6. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing program, connect fix, etc. I am not sure what happened but I have not installed Java 1.7 because I didn't want to screw up Limewire....Now it stopped working on its own. Any ideas on next step? |
LOTR, I also have not been able to connect for about a week. I've checked my Java control panel and it says it's running 32.1. Here again I have changed nothing on the computer. My last connection was aprx. April 27th. I Don't know what happened. |
Have you tried a fresh connection install? via Hotfile or via MediaFire |
I think this was my problem as Limewire started to work again today |
All the LW 5 & LPE versions suffer same issue, if not used for 30 or more days, as soon as you open the program it will delete the connection file as its opening. I created LimeStart (for MacOSX a year ago) and several days ago for Windows. The Windows LimeStart operation is not quite as elegant or silent but it works fine. LimeStart changes the connection file's date so LW will not delete the file, then it launches LW. I have LW on several Windows (2000, XP, 7, 8) and often had that problem of the connection file being deleted. The connection window would be empty, ie: LW not attempting to connect to any hosts because it had no list of hosts to connect to. Good to hear you got connection back. :) If sleepybear91's last connection was just a couple of weeks earlier, I'm not sure the cause. On some occasions a reboot can help with connections with LW or other similar programs. On my mac, sometimes LW starts up as being firewalled and does not lose that status. A relaunch usually fixes it but if not a reboot always does. |

I used MediaFire's file. Worked great! Thanks! About 3 months ago you gave me a link to file that negated the 30 day thing. It said it installed correctly, so I don't know why this happened again. |

Just the Windows LPE Connection Fix alone there's about 100 downloads per day. I would imagine if more people used LimeStart this number will probably drop. BTW the connection fix should be good enough to use for several months, perhaps half a year or up to a year. The file it installs is dated many years in advance and there are many reliable hosts on the list whom are permanent network users. Good to hear you got your connection back. :) |

If you are using Vista or later, the java must be set to Run as Administrator. Search java.exe and right-click and choose that option. For some odd reason this has a big impact on LW connecting. Have you tried the options here? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html |
