Which version of LW 5 are you using? Some versions no longer work: Earlier Mac OS X versions get your LimeWire installer from link here

There are connection fixes to try in this thread: If LW 5 Will Not Connect

Are you using a firewall?

What's the brand & model of your modem/router?
