error: could not move to library Hi again. It's me "unregistered".. I posted that other question about "inconsistent IPs" and got some seriously good help from Taliban. (thanks again). I'm back!!! Fortunately as of this post, I'm getting good connects, lots of search hits, and getting plenty of good music. ================================ Now for the problem: two of my downloads have hit 100% are now listed as "could not move to library".... these items are now sitting in the download status panel. I looked in the "incomplete" folder and found one of them "t-nnnn-filename".... should I rename/move it (to where I keep my songs)? The other file, though, does not exist anywhere as "t-nnnn-filename"..... i even did a filename search of my HD. Suggestions/help? -Dean (i'll get around to registering soon) |

SOLUTION Hello, I to ran into this problem today. The reason that I found that the file would not transfer to the shared folder was that despite Limewire not picking up this information before downloading the file, the file is actually a identically named, and sized file that was already in my shared folder. After looking at the T-nu,ber it showed the correct file size that was a duplicate. I just remaed the file and cut and pasted and it transfereed over fine. In order to do this file transfer you have to close out of Limewire first, otherwise you will get a "file in use by another program" message" Hope this solves everyones problem, and hopefully the techies at limewire can incorporate the code so that the program does a higher level of check before downloading.... Cheers, The Webman |

unfortunately.... I originally thought that might be the case but it's not. Thanks for trying though! I like the helpfulness of this forum. I had tested the theory before posting by: performing a wildcard search for part of the filename. I got a hit for one of them, but it was only the temp file... there was no corresponding file in my share folder. Also, this theory doesn't explain what happened to the second of the two.... this second file was listed ONLY in Limey's download status panel, but was neither in the temp folder nor the share folder. As it is, the second file is gone... i now can't even find it online to re-download it for the time being. After a reboot, the "could not move" files are no longer in the download status panel. At this point, I'm happy that Limey back to working properly but it would be nice to know if there is any way to avoid this... i guess it's just another bug -Dean |
