Limewire steals all my bandwidth

Limewire is using up all my bandwidth even though I'm not downloading anything and no one uploading anything from me. How do I fix this?

How much is ALL?

Limewire needs bandwidth for the search results! Read some articles how Gnutella work to understand why!

And if you are using the "free" windows version check your harddisk with ad-aware:

Limewire installs some other bandwidth consuming (not needed) progs on your computer!

I have DSL and my average download speed when I test it on websites that have a test is about 620K.

Well it seems to have something to do with how many connects I have under the connections tab. I have about half of what I had before right now as I'm writing this and Limewire is using about 300K bandwidth, still alot for only downloading one file at about 10K but alot better than before. Is there away to control how many connects I have going?

You will tell me that Limewire needs 620k without downloading something? This is hard to believe...

Did you run other applications? Did you run ad-aware? Which OS are you using? Are you running a firewall?

Please look at my post above the one I just quoted, it will explain that I think it has something to do with the number of connections I have.

I'm not running any other apps, I ran ad-aware it found something called cydoor, I dont know if this was from limewire or not but it made no difference after I got rid of it. I'm running Win2K, and no firewall at the moment.

By the way thanks for the replies.
