Question suddenly, I can no longer point to my music directory to save files

I have been pointing to my music directory where I keep all my music (c:\My Music) even w/ the most recent version of Pro (2.4.4), then suddenly, 2 days or so ago, Limewire switched itself to the limewire shared directory & will NOT let me point back to this folder saying it's in an invalid directory for saving files I should choose another or use the default. It was working fine before, don't know why it's suddenly invalid. Must have download about 1000 files this way....maybe 50 or so w/ the newest version before it seems to have changed itself....

What happened? How can I get it to point back? I don't want to move all my files to another directory as I point to this directory w/other programs & it's be a lot of other changes I'd have to make as well....

Thanks!

I've no idea what the problem might be but...

It is possible you have some file system corruption - try doing a checkdisk or scandisk or whatever its called on your version of windows (a thorough check may need you to reboot your computer).

Checkdisk found no errors & it didn't fix the problem. I have Windows XP if that would make any difference, though it was working fine before, so I don't know why it wouldn't be now. Any more ideas?

LimeWire may not have permission (privileges) to write to My Music?

Nope, that's not it as it will let me create another folder C:\my_music & download there--the only difference being the underscore--it's like limewire updated itself & suddenly wouldn't recognize a file name w/ a space in it when it would before. All I did was change the icon & designate the folder as a music folder & then this one stopped working--but that's not the reason as I've changed the icon back & the other folder is also designated a music folder. Any other ideas?

Default I also have this problem

I also have this problem and am running XP. I also have my system spontaneously reboot after 10 to 40 minutes.

My problem was solved by simply creating a new folder of the same name, moving everything there & deleting the old folder. I've never had problems w/ spontaneous reboots. Praise be.

The folder you're pointing to us probably flagged as Read Only. You'd need that clear that attribute. If this is a Windows machine, it would be better to put all the songs in a folder within My Documents rather than just under the root directory.

I have exactly the same problem in that for many versions of LimeWire Pro I have always had my downloads go to E:\My Music with nary a problem ever until version 2.65 or 2.7 (can' t seem to remember when this issue started) at which point my default save issues became the same as previously posted here.

One observation though since I have no answers just more questions -

1. LimeWire Automatically creates a folder in my E: drive root calles "Incomplete" and no matter how many times I delete it the next time I start LimeWire it recreates it. This folder never has a file in it so why does it create this.
2. Further to that If I select as my save directory E:\My Music\Incomplete (not to be confused with E:\Incomplete) all of my downloads are successfully saved there. Go figure! This is a bug in the software not in my settings or permissions.

Gratefull for any assistance for it is a pain to think that I have to attempt to modify all of my other proggies that use My Music to compensate for this.

The Incomplete folder holds files as they're being downloaded. Once the download is complete the file is moved into your destination file. So LimeWire must have that Incomplete folder available to do its job. No point in deleting it, as it will always come back.

Don’t use the Incomplete folder as your download location. Use some other folder. Let LimeWire create and manage the temporary files in Incomplete on its own, and just forget that Incomplete even exists. Use E:\My Music or whatever as your download folder.
