When I attempt to point to any another folder inside of the E:\My Music folder except Incomplete (E:\My Music\Incomplete) I am get the message that "Invalid Directory for saving files. Choose another or revert to the default" which is not very helpful. I can also point it to the E:\Incomplete folder and it also is accepted. No other folder is accepted as a save directory.

Exceptions. I can choose as my save directory any root drive I want. In my case I have 5 partitions all in excess of 20 GB with at least 40% free space on every one. I can select any one of them and they are accepted so my save directory becomes C:\ or D:\ or E:\ or whatever I choose. So I then created a new folder in the root directory called Unsorted or My Music and I then I selected it as the save folder and it worked. BTW it also created another Incomplete folder in this directory. It should be smarter than that by creating one inside the save folder not outside however I see the logic in not having more than one Incomplete folder per root direcory.

Therefore I must come to the conclusion that there is an issue with my current My Music folder and all of my previously created folders. I run WIN XP Pro SP-1 and I have checked the permissions for all folders and they are identical - including the new folders I created. So I then reset all of the permissions on the folder to make sure but no change in the original problem.

I am next goint move all of my music to another folder delete the My Music folder and then rename the New Folder "My Music" and see if it works. This however does not address why this has happened to so many of us. Your assistance is greatly apprecaiated.

This may be a duplicate. I am not sure if my post went or not.

If you're talking about the My Music folder that appears in My Documents, you don't want to delete that because it's built-in. If I were you I'd create a folder named Downloaded Music on whichever drive you want to use (other than C). And use that as your download folder.

See my previous reply regarding the Incomplete folder.

Also, you can't use a folder that's flagged as Read Only as the download folder for LimeWire. So after you create that Downloaded Music folder, you may want to right-click its icon and make sure the Read Only option isn't selected, so you can then point to it from within LimeWire.

Really, try to stay away from using My Music as the name of your folder. You're going to complicate things because there's already a built-in folder named My Music.

Sorry I did not make it clear earlier. When I do a clean install of WIN XP one of the first things I do is to move the "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents" folder and it's contents to F:\My Documents. And the "My Music" folder I refer to is in here. I created a new folder called "My Music 1" and successfully downloaded several filed into it. I then created another folder called "My Music" in G:\Backups\My Music and LimeWire hac no problem here either. On the read only issue - all of my folders are read only by default and when I attempt to remove it all returns t0 read only almost instantly.

Seems like a silly thing to work on a small problem so hard.

OUt of Ideas
