Default files are downloading as real audio

Hello,
I have read the FAQ and this question doesn't seem to be gettting addressed. I just downloaded LimeWire, and the first 3 mp3s i have downloaded are for some reason Real Media files (all previous downloads with Napster have just been regular mp3 files, no ra association)

I cannot convert these ra files to aiff

Anyone know why this is happening?

Thank you.

Limewire does not limit itself to just MP3 files... you can download several formats. Use the "Type" column in your search window to determine what type of file you are seeing prior to downloading it.

Real Audio files will be RA and RAM types.

Default real audio download

I am also having problems; the files state that they are mp3 formats and they download as real audio format but won't play with any of the real audio software and won't convert with numerous different software.

When you say they download as RealAudio - what do you mean? Do they have the .RA extention?

Or do they open up RealAudio when you try to play them?

If the latter, the problem lies with your file associations. For some reason RealAudio has been associated with MP3 files. You need to find a proper MP3 player and force it to be associated with MP3 files.
