Please i need help, when i try to open a .sit file successfully downloaded from LimeWire, i can't open it!!!. When i double-click on it, it opens LimeWire software, why is that?, isn't it supposed to open the unstuff software to install the downloaded software?, what it's wrong???, please help me!, thanks.

Drag the file to the icon of StuffIt Expander and the .sit file will unpack. Some version of this program is already installed on your Mac.

dragging sit files on Stuffit 6.5.

I tried this on my mac with OS 9.2.1 and OSx1.3.1 and it doesnt work.

In OS 9.2.1 I made the file self opening (.sea). I then used stuffit to unstuff the files. Sometimes if formed a stuffit file which was unstuffed by stuffit . Sometimes it formed an applicatio which whwn unstuffed by stuffit got me back to the Limewiere.sit file.

Are you sure you are dragging it to Expander and not DropStuff?

Hello!

Some .sit files are compressed on a computer that are about to suffer from directory damage resulting in a incorrect resource fork.To open these files do the following.

Double click Stuffit Expander icon
Now from whitin Stuffit select File menu and then the file that you would like to expand.

Do not use Drop Stuff that one is for compressing files and not to expand them.

Also you should ofcourse visit Stuffit's site and download the latest version of the Stuffit Lite package.
