![]() Yeah, surely they should improve the programming of Limewire so that only files are shown for hosts that have their freakin' computers turned on! rather than showing a majority of files on disconnected computers. So it seems if we get a "Requery sent", we may as well cancel the download, because of dynamic IPs. LimeWire is the only file sharing program I use, can other people tell me if it is a "feature" of other clients e.g. Morpheus to list files from unavailable hosts in the results window? i.e. can our bitching at limewire be truly justified? |

![]() I'm getting the same problem trying to download a W*** W*** episode. A list comes up, but when I try to download it I just guet the reply thing. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the nerk with these files is saying he's sharing them so he doesn't get tagged as a freeloader, but has his upload bandwidth set to 0 so no one can get anything from him. ![]() Well, I've been able to figure out that it's not actually re searching the file in question. the other program (M) gives you the option to do that and it works well. I would like to see LW incorporate this feature into their program. What this would do is fix the problem of the host who disconnected and has a DHCP IP Address. Once they reconnect the chances of them keeping the same IP address are slim or nil. A re-search option would update the connection info to that host to the new IP address and start the download. This would take the ratio of 8 out of 10 re-query's from the previous user and make it about 5 out of 10 or even better. Let's get working on this guys!!! Chuckf69 |

![]() Perhaps a solution would be for Limewire developers to add a "ping" column in the search results window. Not only will this tell us if the file is on an available computer, but will also tell us how saturated his/her connection is. If there is no response in the ping column at least that will save us seeing an annoying "Requery sent" status. Furthermore Limewire could filter out users with no ping, if the user desires. (I am guessing this is different to the "Quality" column.) Bilkhead |

Yes a re search function incorporated into the Requery Sent Function would be great and it would for sure increase the successfull download statistics. But the other function regarding "Ping Requests" is a bad idea due to the following factors: -Security:It would decrease the security for all users that are on the Gnutella network -Most ISP's including mine has a policy that forbidds their users from pinging private individuals since that is consideret making a preparation for a forced entry attempt basically hacking and if you get caught with pinging someone you would first be warned and if you do it a second time your service would be cancelled. So even if a ping function do have some great advantages it is in reality not practically possible due to the ISP policy's.My ISP only allows me to ping corporate servers to check for the up time on web site's.
