Default Requerying... ad infinitum

I'm not sure what's going on with my Limewire. I downloaded this at the recommendation of a friend, and I'm just not getting useful results. I have no problem running searches and getting search results, but when I actually try to download anything, I just get "Requerying... waiting X seconds for results" on nearly every attempted connection. In a week, I have successfully downloaded only three small MP3's (out of hundreds of attempts). It just seems like the search results are 99.9% dead links.

I'm about to give up on LW and look for another tool, but I thought I'd try this forum for advice before I bail. Also, I'm not behind a firewall or a natting router.

In order for LimeWire to download something - there must be someone who can upload it. Not everyone shares files, so those who do frequently find that there is a lot of demand for their files - So while a search might find people who have the files, it doesn't guarantee that they have free upload slots with which to serve those files.

Also, if you are not sharing files then some clients will rarely let you have access to their files (such as me).

You could increase your success rate by only trying to download 4 star results (these had free upload slots at the time of the search).

Tools|Options|Searching|Quality

If you are behind a firewall and the person you attempt to download from is also behind a firewall this will also reduce your success rate in downloading files.

I did limit search results to 4-star entries only, and I'm sharing files also. Even with just 4-star results though, I am getting instances of "Connecting to 192.168.0.2" I know right away that those downloads aren't going to happen!

It seems to me that the fix to the Requery problem would be for limewire to have an option to only show search results that have:

1. The file available
2. A free DL slot
3. Not a private LAN IP.

I understand that some people will want to see all the files available, so they can queue things to attempt DL overnight, but I'd like an option to only see what's really currently available for download--and I don't have any way of knowing if a queued download will ever happen. My biggest frustration with limewire is this "tease factor" of getting hundreds of search results, none of which I can successfully download from... It's a waste of my time.

Default Only Push private IPs

Yeah, I don't get it. Why is LimeWire even trying anything but Push requests to private LANs?
