High bandwidth sites uploading from 56K users 1. Don't hammer. Most of us have only three slots available. If you constantly ping, this only slows down the current uploaders, and can cause routing problems. Be fair, and expect only one file at a time from us. 2. Stay connected even if the transfer rate goes to 0 KB/s occasionally. Remember we chose to specify modem connection speed rather than make believe we have a DSL. This is usually due to rerouting of ultrapeers, and if you don't try to force a reconnection you may be more successful obtaining the complete file. 3. Be aware of what are common vs. rare files, and select rare files first from us. You can probably find common files from a T3 site that's up 24/7 rather than clog our meager bandwidth when we are connected. |
