Nothing Works New user...and I'm not having much luck. I'd like to share my mp3's, but I can't. I go to file>add folder to share -- I go to the directory where I have my mp3 folder -- I select the folder -- then I click "select" and nothing happens. And ... am I really connected to the whole network? I do a search for a not-very-obscure jazz artist -- **EDIT**-- and I get nothing. I do a requery for about 12 hours, and still nothing. Does no one on all of gnutella have a **EDIT** record? |
Peerless -- thanks a lot. I pretty much did that -- tried both files>add folder and tools>options, and the same thing happened. Got to "Select" and it hung up. This has happened a few times using both methods, and it always hangs up in the same place. But it's probably just a quirk...I'll keep trying. I hate to seem like a freeloader who uses the system but gives nothing back. I kinda used **EDIT** as a test -- someone sort of obscure, but not totally obscure. He was a brilliant young bebop player in the 40s -- the **EDIT** era -- but he died very young -- 21 or something like that. I was used to AudioGalaxy, where NOTHING was too obscure. I tried to stump them with DooWop artists who only had one regional hit and never made the charts, with really obscure jazz musicians, with singer-songwriters who've never quite even attained cult status -- there was nothing that someone didn't have. So I need to find my way around the whole Gnutella system. For a start...I don't know what "connected hosts" or "nodes" are. I'm really a newbie here. |
