Installing DL'd Programs

Brand new to this.

I've sucessfully downloaded something (a program) from Limewire - but there's no .exe to install it on my comp.

IOW, I got it but can't do anything with it. What am I missing here?

TIA

Mike

What a file is it (.zip, .iso, etc.)?

Hello!

Are you sure that you downloaded a exe file and not something else like a zip file?.

Anyhow you will find where your files gets downloaded from here:

In LimeWire go to:

Tools>Options>Saving

here you will see the path to the place where your files gets downloaded.

And Remember never download exe files from Gnutella if you do not have a antivirus app installed on your computer that has all the latest update patches .exe files are dangerous stuff!

Morgwen,

Thanks. I've DL'd a - .exe - sit and a zip of the same thing.

Couldn't find how to install any of them.

Joakim,

I don't have any trouble finding where I saved them, just that I don't see how to install the program so it works --- and is not just taking up 20mb on my HD.

For the .zip file you need a packer like winzip:

.sit files are only used by macs you need an emulgator for it, I have never used one you have to search for it...

.exe what is wrong with this file? Did you get an error message? If so which?

Note: before you try to open an .exe files scan for viruses...

Yeah, I have win zip. And have unzipped various downloads of this program I want, but I still don't see a .exe file to do anything with.

The two I DL'd that said .exe didn't have one included in the DL.

It's all just sitting nuetered on my HardDrive. I can't install and run the program.

Peerless - It's not a plug in, it's a stand alone program.

Thanks for you peoples effort, I appreciate it. :-)
