Wink Eliminating Morpheus & Gnucleus Servers

I read in download problems postings to remove the Morpheus & Gnucleus servers from my connections window, as they are leaches & don't upload.

Whell, I see in my connection preferences that there is a Limewire router, and 4 gnutellanet servers.

I deleted the gnutellanet servers & have the 1 limewire router.

2 questions.

1. Should I put the gnutellanet servers back in my preferences, or just the limewire?
2. How do I keep the morpheus or gnucleus servers from coming in, or am I stuck, and I have to constantly keep deleting them? I am too busy for that.

Any help in making this as good as audio galaxy is greatly appreciated. I am sharing everything, and everyone else shoudl be also...

1. You don't have to put the Gnutellanet host caches back, it's up to you.
2. You have to delete them manually. I don't think that the LimeWire team will decide to block these hosts (it will be unfriendly)! But I hate them too.

Default Are there any Limewire people on Gnutellanet?

Thanks,

I was wondering if any Limewire people are in the gnutellanet, or just gnutella? I want to limit there activity, and just have limewire.

Pls. advise & thanks.

Limewire is Gnutella, or rather a client that connects to the Gnutella network. There are other software programs that connect to the same network (i.e., Gnucleus, Morpheus, etc.). These two are not as efficient as ultrapeers, but the developers are working on that problem.

It is really annoying how morpheus takes over my connections and then has such poor results. Any solution to a return to pure Limewire connections would be much appreciated.

Who said that Gnucleus and Morpheus users were only freeloaders? Thats the same thing as I say: All people driving Mercedes are snobs. There are freeloaders everywhere, on LimeWire, BearShare, everywhere...

Gnutella is meant to be free and accessable for everyone,
so its not the idea of it to block all hosts.

Your idea is like: Hey! Yesterday I met a blonde and she was real ugly. So I guess all blondes are ugly, lets kick them out!

I created a modified version of LimeWire, that allows you to block vendors from connecting to you. I also added password protection for the filtering options and an option called ALLOW_ONLY_LIMEWIRE_UPLOADS in the limewire.props file. It is deactivated by default but if you activate it you will only answer upload requests from LimeWire hosts.

The file is called:
LimeWireKrieger_Modified_NoAds_WindowsLinuxMacOSX. zip and is now available on gnutella.

- Err, and you will need LimeWire to download it.

Krieger88:
THIS IDEA IS TERRIBLE!
Why do you want to exclude other vendors?
I understand that if you exclude specific IP ranges, thats
absolutely OK but excluding entire clients....thats, urgh...

Do you want the Gnutella network to split further up?

The idea is great!

If users feel that Morpheus Ultrapeers give them less results, they can now choose not to connect to Morpheus at all.

The other options, to respond only to LimeWire queries has been added, since I felt that it can be benificial for people sharing thousands of files like me, who are flooded with search request which causes an constant outgoing traffic of 6-7K/s just for the message traffic as a leaf node. With the ALLOW_ONLY_LIMEWIRE_UPLOADS option set, it is reduced to 1k/s, which is a figure I can live with.

And as for the network being "split up", - I can live with that too, as can many others who prefer a well behaved network over the ability to connect to Morpheus ultrapeers.

Well,
You do what you like....
I couldnt look that file up in Gnucleus.
Have you already banned it?
Can I get your IP so I can download it from you?
I doubt that I'll be able to find it, or could you upload it somewhere on HTTP?
