I have a G3 mac, am running OS X, have a cable modem, and usually get blazing download times on the internet.

I have been trying to use Limewire to download even from very fast T3 users, but for some reason the downloads CREEP at like 1.5-5k/sec!

Am I doing something wrong, or does this program not like mac (I read another guy's thread who's having the same problems on his mac)?

I also have a G3 Mac, but the speed (I've ADSL) is limited because the music industry tries to destroy the connection by filling the upload channels (most T3) of us users, with the result, no-one can download anymore. We have to be carefull and try to eliminate these basters...

So let me get this straight...you think the "Music industry" is hiring people to sit for hours and download stuff to clog the Gnutella network? Interesting indeed. More slave labor in China, I suppose...

An alternative view:

1) It could well be that the person who *says* they have a T3 actually does not. Increasing the modem speed in the preferences enables more host connections and more hits. Or the person is clueless and thinks T3 sounds cool, so they check that. When you hit a real T3, you know it instantly.

2) Even a T3 is not limitless. If there are many downloaders, your speed will suffer. There are also some types of connections, especially high speed connections to universities in the US it seems, where simultaneous downloads and uploads will slow the connection to 56K speeds. General network congestion will also have an effect. Remember, Morpheus is now a Gnutella client.

If you have all the search results you need, you can disconnect from the net for a while. That will give your downloads a slight speed boost.

The main worry of the music industry is antagonizing its customers, who also are the very ones using p2p to share music. It sounds like this is happening.
